Single Ventricle Anomalies

This is a term that refers to a group of severe conditions in which only one ventricle is of adequate size. It includes, for example, tricuspid atresia and hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). In some cases, the single ventricle has to both pump the blood to the body and pump the blood to the lungs. Surgical treatment depends on the type of defect.
