Key points

  • If your child has a fever over 38°C (100.4°F), severe pain, weakness, numbness or little movement in the treated arm or leg, call your child’s doctor or go to the nearest Emergency Department.
  • Remove your child's bandage after 24 hours.
  • Give your child acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.
  • Your child should avoid any physical activity for 24 hours after the procedure.
