ENFit is a new global standard for feeding tube supplies and accessories. ENFit is a new and safer design for feeding tube connectors that is being adopted around the world. The change will affect feeding tubes such as NG, NJ, G, J, GJ, and combination G/GJ tubes, feeding accessories and syringes.

Here’s what you need to know about changing to ENFit

ENFit tube connectors can only be used with ENFit compatible feeding tubes and accessories, which means other equipment cannot be connected by mistake. This makes ENFit a safer option for patients.

If your child is already using a non-ENFit feeding tube, your health-care team may recommend switching to the ENFit type. Talk to your primary health care team to confirm with type of tube is right for you/your child.

If your child is using a non-ENFit feeding tube, future tube changes may involve switching to the ENFit type.

When purchasing syringes, feeding bags and other accessories to prepare for your child’s transition home, make sure you buy supplies that are marked ENFit, if that’s what your child is using.

If you have any questions related to your child’s feeding tube and the new design, please ask a member of your child’s health-care team.
