  • Children usually need some time to recover from a heart catheterization.
  • Change your child's bandage once a day for five days after the procedure.
  • If the site bleeds, apply pressure. If the bleeding continues for more than 20 minutes, keep applying pressure and go to your nearest Emergency Department.
  • Contact your doctor if you notice that your child's leg is swollen, pale or cold; if you notice any swelling or redness at the site (either neck or groin); your child has a fever; or the site is sore for more than two days.
