Learn about the different types of diagnostic tests your child may have to help their health-care team determine if your child has VCD or EILO.

Key points

  • To diagnose VCD and/or EILO, your child’s health-care provider will discuss your child’s symptoms with you, complete a physical exam of your child and may recommend diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnostic tests for VCD and EILO may include spirometry, challenge tests, laryngoscopy, exercise test with laryngoscopy and blood tests.
  • Because VCD or EILO symptoms come and go, your child may not have symptoms during the diagnostic tests. In this case, their health-care provider may still recommend treatment to see if your child’s symptoms improve.
