What is interleukin-3?

Interleukin-3 stimulates the growth of many types of white blood cells.

How should I give my child interleukin-3?

Follow these instructions when giving your child interleukin-3:

• Give your child this medicine by subcutaneous injection, as instructed by the nursing staff.
• Give your child this medicine at the same time each day.

What should I do if my child misses a dose of interleukin-3?

If your child misses a dose of the medicine:

• Give your child the missed dose as soon as you remember.
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and give your child the next dose at the regular time.
• Give your child only one dose at a time.

What are the possible side effects of interleukin-3?

Call your doctor if your child continues to have these signs or symptoms:

• bone pain
• headaches
• fever
• neck stiffness

Call your doctor immediately if your child has:

• unexplained fever or chills
• other signs of infection such as sore throat, fever

What other important information should I know about interleukin-3?

• Mix vial with diluent provided, as instructed by the nursing staff.
• Each vial is to be used only once; throw away after use.
• Keep all medicines out of your child's sight and reach.
  

Keep interleukin-3 out of your child’s sight and reach and locked up in a safe place. If your child takes too much interleukin-3, call your local Poison Information Centre at one of these numbers. These calls are free.
