Key points

  • If your child has a fever greater than 38°C (100.4°F), a change in the colour of their limb, a growing bruise in the groin, throwing up that does not stop or severe pain, call their doctor or go to the nearest Emergency Department right away.
  • Give your child acetaminophen for pain.
  • Your child can return to normal activities but should avoid any strenuous physical activity for seven to ten days after the procedure.
