Key points

  • If your child has a fever greater than 38°C (100.4°F), numbness, seizures, vomiting or headaches, call their doctor or go to the nearest Emergency Department.
  • Remove your child's bandage after 24 hours.
  • Give your child acetaminophen for headaches or pain.
  • Your child should avoid any physical activity for two days after the lumbar puncture.
