Learn how to properly care for your child at home after sclerotherapy.

Key points

  • If your child has a change in the colour or temperature of the limb where sclerotherapy was done, go to the nearest Emergency Department.
  • If your child has a fever, severe pain around the treated area, or blackened skin, go to the nearest Emergency Department.
  • If a blister forms, gently wash your child's skin with unscented soap and water. Apply Vaseline three times a day and cover with a clean bandage.
  • For pain relief, give your child acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
