What your health-care team can do to help
After an initial assessment, your child's health-care team may consult therapists with expertise in swallowing, such as occupational therapists or speech-language pathologists. Other specialists that may be helpful in managing sialorrhea include otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists), neurologists, dietitians and pharmacists. Some children may be referred to an interventional radiologist.
Depending on your child's condition, their health-care team may recommend treatment to reduce the risk of aspiration pneumonia.
